Yesterday acting justice Anton Myburgh in the Labour Court ordered the reinstatement of the registrar Johan Crouse to his former position after he was removed from the post he has occupied for many years.  Mr Crouse was alleged to have been grossly insubordinate but the Labour Court found that the Minister had failed to consider the relevant facts placed before her by Mr Crouse after seeking an explanation for placing Ceppwawu under administration.  Mr Crouse claimed that over the past 20 years he had never been asked to brief the minister on his decisions and was not obliged to do so.  He argued that he had to ensure that trade unions upheld the law and that he acted in the interests of Ceppwawu’s 66,000 members and  performed his statutory duties.
