According to SA Labour News the Sunday Times reported last Sunday that the CCMA is ‘facing a barrage of complaints levelled against senior officials, including allegations of harassment and fraud’.
“The statutory body has suspended the two most senior officials in its Durban office because of mismanagement linked to a R66m lease deal. It has also been hauled to the Labour Court in Cape Town by a founding commissioner who claims the organisation unlawfully revoked her authorisation to act as a mediator in labour matters. Another senior official in Cape Town, who was accused of harassment, has left.
The CCMA is also having to come to grips with damming findings in a forensic report compiled by Gobodo Forensic & Investigative Accounting, which was handed over in November 2014. According to a spokesperson, the CCMA will act in terms of the recommendations. The Gobodo report recommended that former director Nerine Kahn face disciplinary action. She resigned in December. Minister Mildred Oliphant has been briefed about the report”.
