According to a report on SA Labour News on 4 April 2015 the Minister of Finance said that the national treasury was still ‘seeking public service salary adjustments that were in line with the consumer price index (CPI) after a significant period of “above-inflation” increases’. It seems that government declared a dispute on 27 March 2015 after months of negotiations with public sector unions. Now a 30-day mediation process kicks in, after which the unions could go on strike.
