Farmers: pay 7.7% more from next month

The Department of Labour announced on 28 January 2015 that Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has upwardly adjusted the minimum wage of farm workers with effect from 1 March 2015 until 28 February 2016.  In terms of the new adjustments farmers must pay their employees a minimum wage of

• R2 606.78 per month (2014/2015: R2 420.41);
• R601.61 per week (2014/2015: R558.60);
• R120.32 per day (2014/2015: R111.72) and
• R13.37 per hour (2014/2015: R12.41).
