Further to the earlier post Lungelo Mbandazayo, the director of legal services for the City of Cape Town, wrote a letter to BusinessDay on 7 July Conflict of interests and today Martin Leggasick, emeritus professor at University of the Western Cape,  responds in Hidden revenge.

The point is made that there can only be a conflict of interest if a law firm has information that could prejudice a party in a particular matter.   Professor Leggasick also disputes the allegation made on behalf of the City of Cape Town that the shacks were unoccupied and contends that the City’s action was illegal.
